Weather & mood.- An Australian report on climate developed by the
Climatic Institute has revealed that extreme weather phenomena like severe droughts and heavy storms increase the consumption of alcohol and drugs while exposing human beings to higher levels of stress and depressions.
The study also shows that this human vulnerability to extreme weather events could last for months once these episodes are over, producing an increasing in the consumption of alcohol and drugs; encouraging aggressive behaviors and even may increase the level of suicides.
In addition to these data, the economic cost of natural catastrophes due to severe droughts or floods could cause considerable financial losses.
