In Laktate we have analysed a study where the authors evaluate the relationship between lactate clearance and patient mortality. After investigating consecutive samples taken from 45 children aged 1 month to 15 years who were diagnosed with sepsis, they conclude that higher lactate clearances significantly associate with lower mortality in children with sepsis.
Saputra et al., authors of this article titled ” Lactate clearance and mortality in pediatric sepsis” and published in 2016 by Paediatrica Indonesiana, carried out this study in an Indonesian hospital.
Many children die daily from sepsis, and the authors state that lactate concentration can help clinicians predict the progression of sepsis in children.
This study shows that lactate clearance is useful in predicting mortality in children with sepsis.
